Distance: 8 mi.
Notes: The Greater Lansing Ride of Silence, co-hosted by the Tri-County Bicycle Association Advocacy Committee & MSU Bikes, is proud to announce our 17th annual event in support of the global Ride of Silence, which includes over 300 events worldwide that honor and memorialize bicyclists hit and killed or injured by motor vehicles.

Registration will be from 5:15 to 6:15 pm at the plaza east of Wells Hall on the MSU campus. There is no charge for this event & it will be the exclusive Tri-County Bicycle Association Wednesday night ride.
Restrooms will be made available inside Wells Hall. We will depart for the MI State Capitol promptly at 6:30 with police & bike patrol officers escorting us safely along the route.

A map of the route (which is approximately a 9 mi. round-trip) can be found at: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5851132

There will be a brief memorial ceremony at the Capitol, with options to return to MSU -or- join us after the event at Ozone's Brewhouse starting approx. 8 pm where we will celebrate the work of those in advocacy helping to make our roads safer for all cyclists. Plenty of bike parking around Ozone's; bring your own lock: 305 Beaver St, Lansing, MI 48906 https://goo.gl/maps/bT8bVHcXYDfxe7Do8
The bike patrol officers will ride back to the MSU campus area after the Capitol steps ceremony and photo session, but they will be riding faster, so plan accordingly. The Lansing River Trail is another option for a safer albeit longer way to ride back to the MSU campus without having to ride on the roads in low light. If you're not comfortable riding in low light or after dark (or don't have lights, or have young children joining you) consider parking your car near the Capitol Bldg. (where we have our ceremony and finish the silent part of the event) or at the well-lit, safe car parking at Old Town Parking (close to the Brenke Fish Ladder): https://goo.gl/maps/Lj2p15k86NeMwaeW9 and then drive home from there rather than riding back to campus in the dark.

** HELMETS REQUIRED!**
** Lights and bright clothing are highly recommended for the ride home.

We will ride in the rain, but our thunderstorm or severe weather alternate date is Saturday, May 18th, at 12 pm at the same starting point. Sign-in starts @ 11:15 am. The route and other details will also be the same.

** For planning notes and suggestions please message Pat Harrington, rideofsilencegl@gmail.com or via FB Messenger.
